Inspiring Students After a Co-Op
Companies may wish to conduct an exit interview with the student. What do you want to know about the student’s experience? Another way to complete the program would be to have a student present a summary of what they learned during the experience to management or other interested parties.
Mentors or HR should have a discussion about additional opportunities for students moving forward: Are there potential opportunities within the company? (Youth Apprenticeship? Part time or full time employment? Potential tuition reimbursement programs or scholarship opportunities?) Any evaluation materials should be forwarded to the co-op coordinator to confirm a successful placement. Confirm with the coordinator that they will contact the school to arrange credit for the experience. Follow up with your co-op coordinator as to what you thought went well and what could be improved from an employer standpoint.

What others are saying
"We had a great Co-op experience this year! We hired two of our candidates as employees and are bringing two others back to be Youth Apprenticeship students next school year! This program has been great for us. We feel it is super beneficial to train our future workforce especially since not as many kids are going into the Auto Tech field anymore and our experienced Techs are getting into retirement age. Thank you for everything you do!"
